bj oudman
- Physical therapist, wine geek
- Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Alberta (1991)
- Level 2 Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild
My claim to fame: a toast to me at a recent birthday was – “To BJ, who can stick a six inch needle into my butt and recommend a wine for dinner at the same time”.
- I treat people using hands on therapy and dry needling. Most importantly, I prescribe exercise for recovery and put emphasis on all the things to do to take care of yourself. In December 2008 I sold a multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic in downtown Calgary that I owned for 15 years. Now I consult part time at Bridgeland Sport and Spine.
- I have a Level 2 Diploma from the International Sommelier Guild. My defining moment in wine was when I drank a 1989 Chateau Margaux from Bordeaux.
- I participate in sports from golf to running – I have first hand experience in both the risks and benefits of exercise!
- I balance my life with travel to experience different cultures. I have travelled to most of Western Europe, Hong Kong, North and South America, Thailand, Turkey and Morocco.
My philosophy is that humans are both science and art. Our bodies are connected with our minds. We have to nourish both our physical and emotional sides to be healthy. Physical therapy is my engine; food and wine are my fuel!
